Jeudi 6 avril 11h, en salle Mosson, Rianne van Duinen (PhD Univ. Twente) a présenté ses travaux intitulés : "Exploring farmers’ drought adaptation behaviour -The role of risk perception, coping factors and social interactions".

Rianne van Duinen (1985) studied Environment, Economics and Policy at Wageningen University. She specialized in the economic analyses of agriculture related environmental problems. In September 2008 she obtained a MSc degree after finishing a thesis on the economic effects of drought and salinization on the agricultural sector in the Gallego catchment (Spain). She gained international experience through a minor at the University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), an internship at the environmental consultancy Acteon (France) and field work at the Agrifood Research and Technology Centre of Aragon (Spain). Next to her studies she has worked as a student assistant at the Agricultural Economics and Rural policy group and the Environmental Economics and Rural Policy group at Wageningen University.

After graduation, Rianne started working as an economic researcher/consultant for Deltares. She has contributed to diverse projects ranging from a cost-benefit analysis to determine optimal flood safety standards to private business cases to assess the financial feasibility of environmental innovations. In 2010, she was offered the opportunity to combine her job at Deltares with a mission as a Doctoral candidate at the University of Twente. The topic of her research was agricultural adaptation to climate change induced droughts. As part of her PhD she attended several statistics and modelling courses at the University of Essex (United Kingdom) and the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany). She published several papers on this topic in international journals. Rianne will start a new mission as Natural Resources Economist at the French consultancy Acteon in May 2017.
