The aim of the SO-II project is to install a multi-disciplinary system to observe the impacts of flooding on a Mediterranean territory. In 2019, this project obtained MUSE-Montpellier University of Excellence funding in the framework of the KIM WATERS project to evaluate the implementation of the observation system with SO-II project researchers and partners.
This project is part of the process of creating a workshop zone CNRS called "small Mediterranean coastal basins". The project also organized an international seminar on the observation of flood impacts in Montpellier in July 2021.
The study site includes the Lez watershed, the Or Basin and their coastal strips in the Herault administrative department, France, a dynamic territory that is exposed to many natural phenomena and different stakes. The Montpellier scientific community is recognized for its expertise on water / flooding and Master's level courses are available on this topic.
