 ________________

Andrew Ogilvie is a Research Fellow in hydrology at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) in the G-EAU (Gestion de l'Eau, Acteurs, Usages) Joint Research Unit. He has been working for more than 15 years on the monitoring and modelling of surface water resources in West Africa and the Mediterranean. His research combines hydrology, geomatics and geography and focuses on the complex dynamics of socio-hydrosystems (flood plains, hillside reservoirs, watersheds) in the face of global changes.

Currently based in Dakar, he co-leads several research projects with ISRA, UGB and UCAD that aim to understand the climatic and human trajectories in the Senegal River basin and their influence on water availability for agriculture and ecosystems. He also contributes to projects on the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems Nexus (WEFE), to technical studies/consultancies for river basin agencies (OMVS, OMVG), and to modelling in poorly gauged basins to update hydrological standards in West Africa (GDRI ActNAO).
