Résumé : This talk will give an overview of the national policy on water allocation and the recent progress of water rights trading in China.  Some representative transaction cases will be introduced. Based on our field trips in Ningxia, a pilot province for water rights trading located in the upper stream of the Yellow River, some challenges in the current practice and potential directions for future research on water rights trading will be discussed.
